Our favourite picture-perfect Alpine village is really pulling out all the stops to make sure families, friends and couples are having the best time this winter, both in resort and on the slopes. We’ve hand-picked some of this winter’s most exciting new happenings in Les Gets so you can plan your next trip!

A beautifully spacious yet cosy bedroom in the Clos St. Jean.
Le Clos Saint-Jean
Julie and her family are Les Gets natives and not content with running their own ski rental business and busy estate agency, they’ve developed a stunning new holiday chalet in the very heart of Les Gets for this winter season. Spanning a staggering 500m2 and accommodating up to 14 people, Le Clos Saint-Jean is just opposite the Perriers piste, offering quick and easy access into Les Portes du Soleil. Built in a traditional mountain lodge style but with beautiful modern interiors, it features seven bedrooms over three floors in addition to a gym and fitness room, games room and cinema, sauna and hammam. The New Ranfoilly Lift
A staggering €9.5 million has been spent replacing the old, rickety Ranfoilly chairlift for this winter season. The original 4-man chair was built in 1986 and its replacement, a 6-man ‘express’ is capable of carrying 3300 skiers per hour at a speed of 6 metres per second! New loading and unloading sections at the top and bottom also make life easier, especially for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, whilst at the top you’ll find an extension to the top section of the existing piste, which makes the run much more fun for novices. Don’t miss the new automatic selfie spot at the top of the lift, conveniently placed directly in front of those stunning Mont Blanc views.

A lift between les Chavannes and Mont Chery is still a hotly debated subject. Image: N. Joly
The Teleporter
Meanwhile, the installation of the much-talked-about ‘teleporter’ link between Les Chavannes on one side of the valley and the Mont Chery mid-station on the other is still very much up in the air. Whilst the new link would make it easier for skiers and snowboarders to explore the incredible terrain on Mont Chery, the infrastructure required to build the new lift certainly divides opinion. Suspended 50 metres above the rooftops of the village, the environmental impact will be huge.

Kinabalu Development Begins
Just as work ends on their expansive Annapurna development in Les Gets, luxury property developer Alpine Lodges commence their new Kinabalu development on an adjacent site, right in the centre of the village. With the pistes and lifts of Mont Chery just a stones-throw from Kinabalu, properties vary in size between 1-bed apartments and 6-bed penthouses with a starting price of €350,000. The development will also include a private spa, wine bar and restaurant while the services of Alpine Lodges’ own interior design team are also available to plan personalised interiors. Mini-Boarder Videopark
Come winter or summer, Les Gets loves a videopark. This winter, the mini boardercross area on Les Chavannes saves you the stress of trying to film your child on skis, keeping them in shot and in focus. Simply scan your (or your child’s) lift pass at the top of the course and the Videopark system does the rest. You can then watch the thrills and spills online later, or have it sent directly to your phone. There’s also a parallel slalom Videopark at the base of the Perrieres lift, which completes the full set!

Timed Parallel Slalom on Mont Chery
Perfect for accomplished skiers and those with competitive kids, on the hidden paradise of Mont Chery you’ll find a parallel slalom course. Go head-to-head and battle it out for the title of ‘fastest skier’ on the timed race course. Bragging rights come with every win!
