Your Resort Needs You…

Listen up Morzine business owners. Once again your resort needs you.

There’ve been some frustrations locally over the shortening of the Morzine summer MTB season. In Summer 2012, the Pleney MTB trails opened on 9th June and closed on 9th September. Summer 2013 saw the Pleney closed for the new lift development. Summer 14 began on 14th June and the Pleney closes to mountain bikers on 31st August. The Summer 14 season is 2 weeks shorter than Summer 12 and this is having a very real impact on businesses in the resort.

With much opinion and chat taking place across the resort regarding the promotion of Morzine as a summer destination, the development of MTB facilities and the shortening of the summer season, a group of locals have put their heads together in an effort to influence, change and improve:

1 – Summer season opening dates
2 – Mountain bike trail development
3 – Mountain bike trail maintenance
4 – Lift opening hours
5 – Communication in the resort (between locals and official bodies)
6 – Advertising and promotion of the resort
7 – Other facility opening dates (Swimming pool etc)
8 – Tourist behaviour whilst in resort
9 – Any other issues you feel are important to improving and allowing Morzine to reach its summer potential as it does in the Winter season

If you’ve got an opinion on summer tourism in Morzine, then your resort needs you. Rich Wilford from MTB Beds Morzine is collecting and collating opinions to present to the local powers that be in an effort to influence the planning of next summer’s season. All you need to do is send your opinion to Rich by e-mail (rich.wilford@gmail.com) and he’ll do the necessary.

And don’t forget – if you’ve visited Morzine as a holiday maker this summer, you can have your say by completing the Office de Tourisme’s summer survey here.
