Morzine’s Mairie have just issued an urgent call for vigilance. With the incredibly wet weather set to continue across the Haute Savoie, they’ve just issued the following statement:
“The commune of Morzine-Avoriaz, the Vallee d’Aulps and neighbouring valleys are plagued by violent weather at the moment, which is resulting in floods, overflowing rivers and serious landslides. The prefecture of the Haute-Savoie advises people:
– Avoid all unnecessary travel, especially near rivers and on mountain roads
– Do not, under any circumstances, attempt to pass a flooded road on foot or in a vehicle
We call for the upmost vigilance if you absolutely must travel, especially if you’re heading down the Vallee d’Aulps. Always follow the established road deviations, which are in place across the area.
Also, avoid walking along the Dereche.
