Pre-season skiing in Avoriaz, Les Gets & St Jean d’Aulps

You wait 21 months for a ski lift to turn, then two arrive at once! Following a rather spectacular snowfall this week (with lots more on the forecast), both Avoriaz and Les Gets will open their ski lifts this weekend, earlier than planned. Here’s your guide to the weekend of 4th and 5th December in Avoriaz and Les Gets.

*Note: Everyone aged 12 and over will need a pass sanitaire to use the ski lifts in France for the foreseeable. Your pass will be checked when you purchase your pass and at various points around the lift network. You’ll also be required to wear a face mask in queues and in shared bubble lifts and respect social distancing measures at all times.

Les Gets

In Les Gets, the following lifts will be open between 9am and 4pm on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th December 2021.

– Chavannes gondola
– La Croix chairlift
– Nauchets chairlift
– Mouille au Roy ski lift
– Beginner’s carpet on Chavannes (free of charge)

Lift passes will be priced at just €15 per person per day for both adults and children and yes, you absolutely can use your season pass if you already have one.

The lift pass office at the Chavannes in Les Gets will open during the following hours:

Thursday December 2nd – 2pm – 5pm
Friday December 3rd – 9am – 5pm
Saturday December 4 and Sunday December 5 – 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Also in Les Gets, the snowshoeing routes and the sledge pistes will be open.

Avoriaz

A whopping amount of snow fell on Avoriaz already this week, and the following lifts will be open this weekend and yes, you absolutely can use your season pass if you already have one.

– Prodains Express cable car –  8.45am to 5 pm
– Express Lac-Intrêts chairlift – 9.00am to 4.15pm
– Ecoles ski lift – 9am to 4.15pm
– Tour chairlift – 9.00am to 4.10pm
– Prolays chairlift – 9am to 4.15pm
– Ardent gondola – 8.45am to 5pm

Lift passes will be priced at €21 per day or €40 for the weekend and three lift pass offices will be open:

– Lower station of the Prodains cable car from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
– Upper station of the Prodains cable car from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
– Ardent gondola lower station from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Parking will be free this weekend in both les Prodains and Ardent.

Continuous opening of the Avoriaz ski area begins on Friday 10th December until Sunday 24th April.

St Jean d’Aulps

All of the ski lifts at the Roc d’Enfer (the hidden gem of the Portes du Soleil will open this weekend, with a special left pass price of just €12 per person per day
