Pleney open for bikes

That’s right, the long wait is over for local residents and tourists alike. The Pleney is opening this weekend!

The iconic Pleney is what many people first think of when reminiscing about mountain biking in the Portes du Soleil.
The steep, occasionally loamy, rooty, fast and unforgetable area isn’t always for the faint hearted. But it’s loved by thousands and an integral part of the history of downhill mountain biking in Europe.

And this is no cheeky opening weekend either!
Once the lift starts it’s going to run every day until well into September.
What’s even more exciting is the creation of a new track, rumoured to be graded red, which the team has been working hard on for the last few weeks.

Our good friends over at MTB Beds are so excited about the track they’ve been hiking up and reporting back their findings. The verdict seems to be positive and we can’t wait!

Take a look at some of some of their snapshots below.

Chatel is also opening this weekend. It’s an early opening with the full area opening the following Saturday (20th).
The team at Chatel have been very busy since the snow melted. If you take a look at their Facebook page you can see they’ve been building non-stop over the interseason and also put in a lot of work in the autumn!

As Chatel is only opening up for two days we’re going to head over there on Saturday and bring you another of our Source Area Preview videos. But never fear, we’ll be back over in Morzine soon enough to show you what’s new on the Pleney!

There’s also been rumours of the full PDS links (Avoriaz & Les Crosets) opening for the weekend early on the 20th. We’ll keep you posted for confirmation of that when we hear it!
Thanks to MTB Morzine Beds for the images.
