Unless you’ve been living in a tent out in the woods, and still, even then, it’s likely you’ve heard that Morzine has a new Skatepark. It’s a pretty big deal.
The park was completed last week, and despite a bit of grumbling by amateur Skatepark experts it turned out rather well. The park has been packed out since the day it was declared open to the public but no Skatepark is truly a Skatepark unless its had an official opening party and we expect Morzine’s to be quite a party!
The official opening is this Sunday, 9th August and kicks off at 10am. It’s a community event so all are welcome of course. But be aware the park is closed to scooters and BMX for the day.
Music for the event will be provided by local DJ’S Kevin G, Magic Bowers and Dangerous Dom Harrington.
Local gourmet restaurant Mammas will be on BBQ and beverage duty.
There’s no official competition, so to speak, but there will be plenty of spot prizes for best lines and tricks throughout the day. Prizes will be provided by Attack Attack, Slopestyle, Antiz, Atohm Skateboards, Thanks skateboards, Dragon Eyewear and Street Art shop Thonon.
It’s highly recommended you head on down to witness the incredible level of skill already in the local area, and that’s only surely going to grow now we’ve got our own park. But please do be aware that the level of skateboarding will be high, so people will be going faster, higher and there’s and increased chance of errant skateboards flying through the air. If you’ve got young children or dogs it will be worth keeping them nearby and vigilance is recommended from all spectators.
The event is running from 10AM until 9PM, so don’t forget your sun cream and we’ll see you down there!
