Summer in Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets wouldn’t be complete without a bit of MTB goodness. Especially when our three favourite resorts have a mountain bike themed activity that everyone can enjoy! Here’s what’s on the agenda so far this summer.
Pass’Portes du Soleil
28th – 30th June
It would’t be summer without Pass’Portes! This enormous mountain biking event allows participants to challenge themselves and make the most of everything the PDS has to offer. Entrants will ride around 80km and cover many many vertical metres in a one-day tour of all 12 resorts in les Portes du Soleil. But don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of snack stops to test out locally produced cheeses, meats and beers along the way!

UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Les Gets
12th – 14th July
One of the events of the summer, the UCI MTB Word Cup races see spectators flocking from miles around to witness the action, and this year the World Cup is returning to Les Gets! Don’t miss the change to see some serious race action in both downhill and cross country – find out more and view the schedule here, PLUS you’ll get to read all about it from the pros themselves in the summer issue of Source!

Les Gets DH Kids Cup
21st July
Organised by the Velo Club des Gets, this is a fun and friendly competition for kids aged between seven and twelve. The perfect way for mini mountain bikers to get a taste of competition, and for parents to see their progress, the Kids Cup is set to be a great day of racing with a jovial atmosphere – and it’s open to all! Find out more here.
MTB Camp for Teens with RideAbility
5th – 9th August
If the thought of watching your youngsters hitting jumps in the bike park gives you the shivers, why not hand them over to some experienced professionals for the week so they can improve quickly and safely? RideAbility’s professional MTB coaches have the perfect solution – a downhill mountain biking summer camp especially for teens aged 12 – 17. Running from the 5th – 9th August, your kids will be safely and expertly guided through the bike parks of les Portes du Soleil in French and English – and their riding will improve no end!
All attendees must be of intermediate level or higher – find out more here. And look out for our interview with RideAbility’s Jo Pauly in this summer’s issue of Source!

Guided Night Rides
If you can’t get enough of mountain biking in the day, why not do it at night? With Morzine Activities you can go for a guided night ride to a mountain chalet, where you’ll enjoy an aperitif, a game of boules and light dinner before riding back to base using head lamps and bike lights to illuminate the way. Find out more here.
No doubt there will be plenty more MTB-themed events to add to your diaries this summer – keep up to date via the Source Events Calendar and follow us on Facebook for updates.
