Wow, there is a LOT going on in Morzine this winter. From new lift developments, piste improvements and goings on around town, our favourite ski town is getting stuff done. You may have even seen some of these new additions in effect already…!
Express Morzine-Avoriaz 2020
Or EMA as the project is also known, is a new super-sized €35 million lift development set to link the very centre of Morzine with Avoriaz via the existing Prodains Express gondola lift in less than 20 minutes. The proposed development also includes a tunnel underneath the village to connect EMA with Pleney. Officials at the town hall have proposed and supported the project and remain committed to creating a direct link between the neighbouring resorts. EMA is also part of a 10-year plan that includes piste and lift developments on the Super Morzine sector of the ski area.
However, as with all huge construction projects, progress is not quick. The proposed EMA route necessitates the support of a number of local landowners and other stakeholders. Finding a consensus for the plan isn’t easy and raises a number of environmental questions. We will of course keep you updated on all developments via our website and Facebook page.
A New Resort Logo!
You’ll no doubt spot the new Morzine-Avoriaz resort ‘crest’ across the area this winter. Drawing inspiration from both the 1930s and 1970s, the concept is to establish Morzine-Avoriaz as an authentic, heritage brand, which stands the trends and tests of time.

Lift & Piste Developments
The Proclou beginner’s area between Morzine and Avoriaz has extra snowmaking capabilities this winter to ensure the connections between the two resorts stay skiable all winter. You’ll also find that the Proclou itself has been widened and redesigned in certain areas to avoid congestion and make life easier for beginners.
Never shy to spend money on the winter season, Morzine’s Pleney Lift Company has spent €700,000 on its snow making network ahead of this winter season, following an €800,000 investment last winter. Snow making on Pleney and Nyon sectors now relies on a more efficient, less energy-sapping system of machinery, which makes grooming easier and better conserves snow coverage. Landscaping improvements on the beginner’s area at the top of the Pleney Express should also guarantee snow coverage throughout the winter.
For the first time this winter, Morzine’s snow making facilities will be open to the public. Check out our events calendar for details on dates and times.

Nyon Fun Zone
There’s a new team of park shapers in town including specialised building technicians and experienced shapers and groomers. They’ve got their sights firmly set on the Nyon Plateau, which will feature one huge snow park this season. You’ll find two whoops, four kickers and a boardercross course as well as a dedicated beginners area too.

Electric Charging Points
Hotel Le Dahu was one of the very first buildings on the sunny side of Morzine’s valley and the pioneering spirit continues. The hotel has installed Morzine’s first electric car charging stations (three Tesla and two universal chargers) and they now have their very own electric car available for guests to rent during the season. Charging stations are offered to guests on a complimentary basis each evening. Additionally, guests travelling to Le Dahu this winter also automatically qualify for a 20% reduction on their room rate when they arrive in a 100% electric powdered vehicle. Just enter the code ECOLODGE20 into the hotel’s website when you book to receive your discount.
