Morzine has a brand new super chalet and it’s not often that we get the chance to take a peek inside. Kyles Garrett of Shep&Kyles Design is responsible for many of the most luxurious chalet interiors in the area and we think Chalet Joux Plane is her finest work so far. If you’d like to add a little Savoie-chic to your home, take some inspiration from Chalet Joux Plane.
Bocci Lights – 14 Series
Described by Kyles as her ‘signature light’, Bocci are an innovative design and manufacturing company based in Vancouver and Berlin. Their ‘14’ light is an articulated, cast glass sphere with a frosted cylindrical void and it became an instant classic when released a few years back. In Chalet Joux Plane, Boccis hang in the double-height glass atrium that bisects the chalet. There’s a glass floor section in the atrium so the Bocci’s are also visible from the gym on the lower floor. Their impact is stunning.
Handcrafted by Sweden Swing
Every home should feature an internal swing. As the name suggests, Handcrafted by Sweden are a Swedish company focusing entirely on sustainable, beautiful products. Designed to lighten your mood and provide a space for inspiration, relaxation and reflection, Chalet Joux Plane features two integral oak and leather swings in the ‘party zone’ to add a fanciful element to a chalet that’s notable for its clean lines and masculine palette. Additions such as this bring levity to the chalet and provide an essential balance to the interior style.
Top Floor by Esti Rugs
Typically found in some of the world’s most prestigious private residences, luxury hotels and private yachts, Esti’s rugs include a distinctive texture. Top Floor are one of Kyles’ oldest and best-loved suppliers as they are a class apart. The rugs in Chalet Joux Plane are a wool-silk mix and totally bespoke in design, colour and size. The silk adds an opulent sheen and feels incredibly indulgent underfoot.
Roche Bobois Sofas and Tables
Kyles’ ‘go-to’ for a huge range of stylish furniture, the Roche Bobois showroom is a treat in itself. Located on the canal in Annecy inside a beautiful listed building, inside you’ll find a huge range of lounge and dining furniture, including these Symbole sofas which feature in various lounge spaces throughout Chalet Joux Plane.
hidrobox Bath
Baths in bedrooms is a very French, very chic way to arrange your room. In Chalet Joux Plane the master bedroom features this beautiful hidrobox bath immediately in front of a floor to ceiling window. It’s beautifully designed and made from a matt, tactile resin as opposed to the standard acrylic, these baths are both extremely comfortable and become a sculptural statement in a room.
Tom Dixon Chairs
Chairs from this iconic British brand feature in Chalet Joux Plane’s snug, salon, games room and in two bedrooms also. Kyles chose these particular chairs, not just because they’re beautifully designed and manufactured, but also because they epitomise the interior style of the chalet. They’re perfect for both reception spaces and bedrooms and work extremely well in contemporary interiors.
