In an effort to inspire you and keep your spirits up during these bizarre times, we’re showcasing the work of several local photographers during this autumn season. Each photographer has donated one image to our 2021 landscape photography calendar, which features stunning images from across Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz.
This week it’s our pleasure to introduce you to Thomas Gallopin of TG Photographie.
For how many years have you visited Morzine and do you prefer to visit in summer or in winter?
I have a chalet in Morzine and I have been coming to Morzine for 12 years in summer and winter, I prefer winter for the snowy landscapes and skiing!
Tell us about the day you took this series of photos. Set the scene!
This series of photos was taken during winter 2019/2020, mostly with a drone during sunrise or sunset (a moment that I appreciate) you can find Montriond, Morzine and Avoriaz there.
For how many years have you been inspired to take photos?
I have been doing photography since the age of 12, I have been a professional for 5 years (I am now 22 years old and living my passion to the full).
It is often difficult to take good photos in the snow. Do you have any recommendations / advice for our readers?
Winter is a difficult season for photos, the most beautiful landscapes are revealed after a heavy snowfall, a clear sky or a sunrise / sunset are the best times to photograph winter landscapes! The colours are soft and intense, the snow-capped trees at dawn with a clear sky exudes a sublime purity.
What are you waiting for the most this winter?
For this Winter 2020/2021 I am expecting heavy snowfall to still be able to browse the pure white landscapes, a certain awareness after this difficult episode for everyone this year 🙂
