It’s been announced this afternoon that Avoriaz will host the 4th Snowboxx Festival this winter. Set to take over the Portes du Soleil’s highest ski resort between 12th and 19th March, Snowboxx is relocating from Alpe d’Huez, bringing a 3000 strong crowd and a packed line-up of musical treats with it.
Snowboxx is a sell-out annual festival and last year’s line-up featured Source’s favourite group Jungle in addition to 2manydjs, Horsemeat Disco and Eton Messy. Andorra hosted two previous Snowboxx festivals, bringing global DJs to the resort and a host of live acts too. Snowboxx organisers have promised us an even better line-up for 2016 and the first headliner will be announced in September.
For the first time, Snowboxx will create the ‘Snowboxx Village’ in the very centre of Avoriaz, hosting all musical events, main stage performances and local food and drink stalls. Daytimes will be dedicated to an apres atmosphere, including live bands and on certain nights during the festival, the Snowboxx Village will open late to host the line-up’s big names. There’ll also be karaoke ski cabins, a onesie world record attempt, human bowling, snowball fights, mountain sleepovers, igloo raves, tropical pool parties and much more.
If you’re looking at the Snowboxx dates and thinking ‘that definitely clashes with something else…’ then you’re right. Snowboxx takes over Avoriaz during the same week as the Portes du Soleil’s annual Rock the Pistes Festival, giving us all the chance to see massive live acts on specially erected stages across the entire ski area during the daytime before a second round of musical mayhem in Avoriaz each evening.
Festival wristbands for locals will be available in due course and over the winter season we’ll be giving away exclusive wristband offers here at Source Magazine. Stay tuned for our special Snowboxx competitions.
Snowboxx is the second major music festival to base itself in Avoriaz this winter. Yesterday we announced the arrival of Transition Festival and opening night headliner Dizzee Rascal between 13th and 19th December 2015.
With stacks of information still to be announced, we can confirm that accommodation, lift pass and festival ticket packages start from £239, while packages including flights and transfers are also available from £339. Tickets are available now! Visit the Snowboxx website for more information.
