Crashed ice is our new favourite sport here at Source Magazine and you’ll be able to read our exclusive interview with two of the sport’s best athletes in our Winter 16 issue. But in the meantime, we’re very excited to report that a round of the Crashed Ice Riders Cup, supported by Red Bull, is heading for Avoriaz this winter.
If you’re unfamiliar with Crashed Ice, here is is…
As part of the Ice Cross Downhill World Championship, the courses for Riders Cup races are designed, built and organised by the host riders themselves. The track will be built as a boardercross course that’s then allowed to freeze and rumour has it, it’ll pass through the centre of Avoriaz resort. Athletes will earn valuable points for the Championship and we’ll be able to watch all the drama unfold in Avoriaz on 15th and 16th January.
Local Crashed Ice pros Tristan Dugerdil and Pacome Schmitt are very excited to bring their sport to their home town. “It’s a pleasure for us to see our sport become popular in France and we thank Avoriaz for hosting this event!”
We’ll bring you more news on the course, it’s location and spectator points when we have more information from the organisers.
