Pleney MTB Ends 31st August

The Morzine Office de Tourisme have this morning confirmed that the Pleney will close to mountain bikers on Sunday 31st August this summer – rather than on Sunday 7th September as expected by most of the resort’s MTB businesses and riders.

The confusion came to light just this weekend when local business owners got wind of what they thought was a change to the scheduled summer season opening dates. Indeed, the Morzine-Avoriaz official website includes a map of the MTB area, stating that…








Unfortunately the Morzine Office de Tourisme confirmed this morning via Twitter that the Pleney will close on 31st August, as planned and demonstrated on their website.







The confusion seems to have come from the fact that the Morzine-Les Gets MTB area will stay open until 7th September, but this doesn’t include the Pleney…















Many MTB businesses in Morzine are expecting mountain bikers to stay in their hotels, chalets and apartments during the first week of September and are very concerned about the impact of a 31st August closure on the future of summer business in the resort. They’ve started a Facebook discussion group, which you can follow here. Discussions and appeals are planned between local businesses and the powers that be in resort to try and extend the Pleney opening dates.
