Avoriaz already has a great reputation for families. After all, it’s a car-free resort, which is perfect for after-ski activities and little ones who can’t get enough of playing in the snow. But forget tobogganing, swimming and ice skating (all of which are great fun in their own right), this winter Avoriaz is introducing three new activities for kids, and of course, big kids! As we all know, playing is really good for you, especially when it allows you to get outside and isn’t harmful to the environment, like these activities. Intrigued? Read on to find out more.

Electric Snowmobiles

Mountain E-Park (who we’ve also interviewed for this winter’s mag by the way…!) will be running electric snowmobile sessions for kids aged between five and twelve in Avoriaz and Les Gets this winter. The company was started last winter by Jérémy and Edwige Cousseau, who wanted to combine their passion for the environment, working with kids and motor sports. They worked on a kids’ electric snowmobile prototype with Swiss company Quantya and voila, the first electric snowmobile park in France was born! A great way for kids to experience the fun of snowmobiles in a safe, environmentally friendly and quieter environment.

Archery Tag

A brand new fun activity space, Sensasparc, will be coming to the base of the Prodains cable car this winter and one of the activities they will be offering is archery tag. Archery tag is totally safe for kids and adults and doesn’t rely on any fuel or electricity. The concept is simple: two teams don protective face masks and shoot foam arrows arrows at one another in a quest to knock over a target in the middle of the arena. Great fun all round.

Laser Tag

Also available at Sensaspark, Avoriaz is taking the classic game of laser tag to a whole new level. Instead of playing inside a dark, grotty warehouse full of MDF corridors, this variation of laser tag takes place in the forest at the base of the Prodains cable car. Day or night (the forest is floodlit), you can now play laser tag in teams of six to ten using the latest infra-red laser tag technology, which las a range of up to 150m. The perfect after-ski activity for families or groups of friends alike, it’s totally safe and not harmful to the environment. Bonus.
