The #MorzineVillage
We’re just about over the tiredness and excitement of the London Ski & Snowboard Show. Regular followers of our updates will know that we took 16 individual businesses from Morzine to the annual snow show at Earls Court under the Morzine Village umbrella. Organised by Source Magazine and Retro Rentals and in association with the Morzine Office de Tourisme, we transported Morzine’s fun, friendly vibe to London and over the course of four days, we educated thousands of winter holiday makers about Morzine and the surrounding area.
Joining us in the Morzine Village were…
Call Home Immobilier
Stick Em Up Stickers
Heidi’s Mountain Chalet
Mountain Utopia
Retro Rentals
Counterfeit Clothing
Always Number One Weddings
Skicology
La Ferme du Lac Vert
Morgan Jupe
Getaway Vans
Snow & Trek
Mountain Moments
Morzine Massage
Morzine Office de Tourisme
Sculpteurs du Lac
Geoff and Victor from Montriond based interiors company Sculpteurs du Lac worked exceptionally hard to create the structure of the Morzine Village, transporting huge amounts of local timber from their factory to the show. All exhibitors in the village brought interactive elements to the show, including table football, the Retro Rentals party stand and wine tasting. We even had a live wedding ceremony (a world first at a ski show!) courtesy of Kay at Always Number One Weddings.
Anne-Sophie represented the Morzine Office de Tourisme at the show and she told us “I’m amazed by how much English people already know about Morzine”. Call Home’s Jean-Guillaume Payen explained “I’ve gained far more contacts than I thought I would during the show and it’s really easy to sell Morzine to visitors”. We asked Snow & Trek’s Vicky if she thought the ‘village’ style format worked… “Yes, we’ve taken 4 bookings during the show and we’ve got a lot of other interest to work on to”. The best part of the show for Getaway Vans’ Sarah was “speaking to people who are really excited about their winter holiday plans. I give them a piste map and tell them the short transfer time, and they’re easily hooked!”. We also asked Michael from Counterfeit Clothing about the community spirit in the village… “It’s great to see exhibitors recommending each others businesses, it shows how friendly Morzine is as a resort and the spirit of the community that live there”.
Plans are already underway to make the #MorzineVillage even bigger and better for next year’s show (which rumour has it, has a new venue!) and if you’d like to register your interest now to get involved as an exhibitor, e-mail amie@origami-media.com
In the meantime, here’s some of our favourite pics from the show…
