Waiting for the route of Le Tour to be announced each year is almost as exciting as Le Tour itself. In 2010 Morzine-Avoriaz hosted a stage finish and a rest day, bringing the likes of Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck and Lance Armstrong to our local roads and cols.
Since 2010 a lot has changed in the world of pro cycling and it’s fair to say that the sport has captured the imagination of a whole new audience. 3.5 billion people tuned in to watch the Grand Depart in Yorkshire in 2014.
We’re therefore very excited to announce that Le Tour will arrive in Morzine-Avoriaz on Saturday 23rd July 2016.
This morning, route speculation was finally put to rest at an ASO conference in Paris. Here’s the official Tour de France 2016 route.

Much excitement also surrounds the announcement that L’etape du Tour will also feature Les Gets / Morzine / Avoriaz on it’s 2016 route! This mass participation, cyclosportive event gives amateur cyclists a chance to follow in the pedals of the pros during each Tour de France event.
If you’re fans of Le Tour and you’re thinking of heading our way next summer to take in the incredible atmosphere, it’s important that you book your accommodation early. Head to our list of chalets, apartments and hotels in Morzine Avoriaz to begin your research!
