Le Bowling Avoriaz gets a Revamp

Bowling Avoriaz

You probably wouldn’t normally think of going bowling in a ski resort, yet many ski resorts seem to host a bowling alley of some description. Avoriaz is no exception. In fact, Le Bowling in Avoriaz is a bit of an institution. Its walls are adorned with old newspaper sheets, it’s packed full of old school arcade games and it houses two retro bowling lanes. We wouldn’t like to speculate how long its been like that and we absolutely love its charm and character, but we were also very excited to learn that our friends at Avoriaz Holidays, who own Le Bowling, are giving it complete makeover and combining it with a brand new bar.

Le Lounge Roc – set to be a cosy hole in the wall (sorry).

Said makeover is happening in two parts and is shaping up to be one hell of a project: Le Roc will be made up of Le Strike Roc (the bowling alley) and Le Lounge Roc, a brand new lounge bar complete with VIP area, DJ booth, cigar club and smoking room, cocktails and delicious tapas. It will even have a dancer pole. Avoriaz Holidays have acquired the space above the bowling alley, an old supermarket and storage area, which will make up Le Lounge Roc, and work is already underway. Le Lounge Roc is due to open this winter and will cover everything from après drinks to dinner to late night parties. We got to have a sneak peek at the progress last week and we’re already envisioning a swanky bar with a great atmosphere in the heart of Avoriaz.

A smart new concept for Le Bowling!

The renovations are happening in two stages, so the bowling alley will remain untouched this winter. That means if you love its kitsch decor and retro bowling lanes, this coming winter is your last chance to make the most of them. And if you’ve never visited it before, this winter is the time to see it in its soon to be former glory. The bowling alley will close at the end of winter and renovations will take place throughout the summer for reopening in December 2019. The final plans are still underway but we’re anticipating the return of great cocktails and hopefully lots of neon lighting. Most importantly of all, we’ve been informed that there will be more bowling lanes!
