Most of the time a good pair of trail shoes will see you safe on the snowy trails.
Your other option is to pop a pair of microspikes over your normal trainers.
I recommend the Kahtoola nano spikes, which are lightweight and work on all types of snow and ice. They’re also easy to pop on and off as needed.
what they say
NANOspikes® footwear traction provides winter road runners with high-performance traction on icy and snow-packed city streets. Designed to allow for a natural running motion and safe transition between dry and slippery pavement, 10 wear-resistant tungsten carbide spikes bite into hard surfaces without affecting gait and/or stride. Durable and flexible dual compound TPU traction plates disperse force against the outsole of footwear, aid in snow-release, and keep NANOspikes® in place. And reinforced TPU eyelets prevent tearing at connection points, allowing the TPE elastomer harness to be lighter and stronger while remaining stretchy down to -30°F. Between outings, easily pack NANOspikes® footwear traction away in the included tote sack.
