The Friperie Associative has become an integral part of the local community and is often the first interaction people have with Montagne Verte. You will engage with customers and volunteers on a daily basis ensuring they have not only a positive “shopping” experience but are also able to access information on Montagne Verte and the environmental ethos behind the friperie. The role is divided into ‘Retail’ and ‘Community’ responsibilities.

Working alongside the Friperie Manager, you will make a small team but spend most of your work hours working independently so need to be comfortable working alone. Together you will have the freedom to develop and create projects by yourselves. Your direct point of contact will be the General Manager whom you can communicate with as regularly as you need to.

Responsibilities

Friperie

Management of donations:
Sorting donations on a daily basis; checking for damages and repairs; determining pricing.

Management of shop floor:

Keeping stock tidy and organised on the shop floor; rotating stock on a regular basis;

Run the cash register;

Logistics

Organise transport of donations between the friperie and the storage space; Arrange for donations to be sent to other partner associations; Organise the washing of donations with the volunteer network.

Community

Volunteers
Coordinate local volunteers through whatsapp group to organise shifts and laundry of donations; Ensure volunteers have clear tasks when helping in the friperie.

Repairs

Drive forward the upcycling project; collect and debrand uniforms, coordinate seamstress volunteers to help with the debranding.

Events

Share information on local events and services; put up posters in the shop and relay information to volunteers; Co-organise workshops and events linking to themes of the friperie.

Network

Maintain links with other local and national organisations to whom we can send some of our donations or organise specific collections; Create links with the clientele

The Candidate
This is a job for someone social and creative, who enjoys the interactions that comes with a customer facing role and has a keen interest in second hand fashion. You will be representing Montagne Verte within the community on a daily basis so need to be confident with customer interaction and have an understanding of environmental issues. A friendly, approachable attitude is a must.

Essential skills & experience

Ability to work independently
Confident customer service skills
An eye for detail & how to best present products
An interest in the environment
Minimum of conversational French

Desired skills & experience

Experience in retail
Previous experience in non-profits
Sewing skills

Around 18-21 hours per week over 3 days a week from mid June to mid September.
