The winter issue of Source Magazine features a great interview with the lovely, self funded and very hard working ski cross racer Emily Sarsfield. Such was Emily’s dedication to her sport, she’d been selected to be an ambassador for the ‘Slide to Sochi’ campaign to inspire a new generation of winter sports athletes. It’s a role she took very seriously indeed. Emily’s training was going well and as recently as November she put in an excellent performance at the Ski Cross World Championships. Her season so far has had Sochi written all over it.
Despite global ski governing body the FIS formerly inviting Emily to compete at Sochi, since she’d satisfied all the entry conditions, Team GB have left Emily out of the Sochi squad. Their decision was based on their belief that Emily is unlikely to put in a ‘credible performance’ at the games.
In an attempt to overturn the Team GB decision, Emily and her team have started a petition, which you can get involved in here.
