Today’s ‘Ski Sale’ at London auction house Christie’s will see posters go under the hammer for as much as £15,000! The annual ‘Ski Sale’ is the 15th time Christie’s have offered up vintage posters and luggage from the Golden Age of travel. Over 160 lots are available and include the most beautiful and dynamic ski tourism posters from the early 20th century, combined with the most glamorous Louis Vuitton luggage collections. Christie’s believe that the posters illustrate a ‘wonderfully nostalgic, pictorial history of skiing’ while presenting a ‘fascinating record of the changes in techniques, equipment and the resorts themselves’.
While there aren’t any posters in the collection from the Portes du Soleil, it’s estimated that this poster from Swiss resort St Moritz will sell for between £10,000 and £15,000.
