WHAT WITH CRANKWORX IN LES GETS AND THE FRENCH DOWNHILL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN MORZINE GOING ON FOR BIKERS, NUMEROUS THEMED WEEKS FOR KIDS, RELAXATION AND WELLNESS WEEKS, AVORIAZ MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL FOR FAMILIES; THERE’S PRETTY MUCH SOMETHING GOING ON ALL THE TIME OVER THE SUMMER MONTHS. FOR BIKERS: PASS’PORTES DU SOLEIL, June 29th – July 3rd
Pass’Portes is THE mountain bike event of the summer. And it’s great because it’s so inclusive – mountain bikers from all across Europe get together and take part in a huge ride around the Portes du Soleil. The towns of the PDS fill up with keen riders, demo stands music and more, making it a great opportunity to test out some bikes, meet new people and get lots of kms under your wheels. There’s even an e-bike route, a kids’ route and a walkers route, so it’s great for everyone! Sign up HERE.
FOR WELLNESS JUNKIES: 100 CIELS, 1st – 5th August
After a successful first edition last summer, 100 Ciels is back to help you tune into your body and mind, and be the most chill version of yourself you can be. This wellness week is packed full of workshops, demonstrations and individual sessions that can be booked onto individually. Expect everything from yoga and pilates classes to meditation workshops. There are even special workshops designed for kids.
JUST FOR FUN: SPLASH MORGINS
Also returning to the PDS for a second time is Splash Morgins, and this time it’s bigger and better than ever before! Last year saw ten days of giant waterslide action, but this year will see a WHOLE MONTH, alongside food trucks, live music and lots of other activities for you to get stuck into before or after your time on the slide. The Splash waterslide is 500m long and you can reach speeds of up to 55km per hour, providing friends and families with hours of fun! Book your tickets HERE.
FOR MUSIC LOVERS: LOUNGE MUSIC FESTIVAL, 6th – 19th August
Now on its 8th edition, Les Gets Lounge Music Festival is gets bigger every year and is fast becoming one of Les Gets’ stand-out events of the summer. The Lounge Music Festival (contrary to what the name may suggest) features a massive range of musical genres, with over 40 FREE concerts scattered around the village across a two-week period. Performers come from far and wide to grace the stages of intimate outdoor and indoor venues – the streets and the mountains will literally be alive with the sound of music. The full programme will be announced soon but we already know there will be a huge performance from Slimane, winner of The Voice France 2016!
FOR FAMILIES: Semaine des Quatre Elements, 23rd – 27th July
Morzine has the Royaume des Marmots, Les Gets has the Semaine des Quatre Elements (Four Elements Week), a week designed for kids based on science, crafts, sport and fun! The theme of the week is the four elements and how they fit into mountain life, taught through a series of fun activities, experiments and crafty workshops. Your kids (and you!) will absolutely love this so make sure you check it out!
