Snowboxx Festival is back for its 3rd year in Avoriaz, and this year is set to be even bigger than last year! Snow sports and music festivals aren’t usually two things you’d think of combining, but in recent years they’ve shot up in popularity. Don’t forget, the Portes du Soleil is also home to another music festival, Rock the Pistes, which takes place over the entire ski area. And after all, who wouldn’t want to spend five sunny March days cruising around Avoiaz on skis or a snowboard and spending the afternoons and evenings dancing to some of the world’s best DJs, bands and producers?
The Snowboxx line-up has been announced for this year’s festival and it looks EPIC. You may already have seen us mention it in passing; it’s something we’re very excited about… Fatboy Slim will be making his Avoriaz debut, which promises to be absolutely HUGE. He’ll be dropping some of his biggest tunes, (Praise You, Rockerfeller Skank, Right Here, Right Now, the list goes on) as well as undoubtedly playing some new material. Mike Skinner (of The Streets fame) will be returning after a hugely successful slot on the main stage last year to perform at the one of the more intimate slope-side Igloo Parties. Definitely a gig not to be missed!
Further acts include a DJ set from drum and bass legends, Chase and Status, as well performances from the pioneer of UK garage, the Artful Dodger and multi-instrument-playing producer, Youngr. Gracing the stage will also be up-and-coming electronic acts Snakehips, dance legend, Danny Howard, drum and bass DJs, Fred V and Grafix, and DJ / producer, Kideko.
As well as all this awesome music, Snowboxx has lots of other stuff to offer eager festival-goers. Aside from ski and snowboard lessons, there will also be après parties every evening, a daily Bottomless Brunch (which is set to be exactly like it sounds!), and Altitude Comedy nights. You can find out a little more about these added extras right HERE.
