Ellie Soutter takes 2nd place at The Brits

When 13 year old Ellie Soutter from Les Gets first joined the British Junior BoarderCross team last winter, she was fairly excited (to say the least…). This season so far has been competition-packed, she’s literally been to every FIS competition available to her. Ellie was particularly looking forward to competing at this weeks BRITS competition in Tignes having placed first in the junior’s category last year, making her Junior British Champion.

Yesterday Ellie placed second in the women’s open of the British Snowboard Championships – that’s the classification above the juniors. She’s a full 7 years younger than winner Giorgia Jayne Rescigno and she was the youngest rider in the competition.

“Obviously I’m beyond excited with my performance at The Brits today, taking second place in the overall women’s competition is a phenomenal result – I only joined the British team last winter! Riding with and competing against older girls has really improved my performance and my nerve, it’s great to end the season on such a high!”

Ellie is sponsored by a number of local companies such as Counterfeit Clothing and Big Foot’s Bar, but she’s really in need of an equipment sponsor. Spread the word!
