We all know that there’s loads going on in Morzine and Les Gets over the summer, but it’s a little-known fact that Avoriaz is pretty bustling throughout the summer months, too. Not only does it host a dance festival, a mountain festival, and for the first time this year, an e-bike festival, it’s also home to some incredible mountain biking, trail running and hiking. While a lot of the businesses in Avoriaz stay closed outside the winter season, we’re very excited that two of our favourite evening institutions are open for the summer: le Bowling Avoriaz and bar / nightclub the Place.
Both establishments have been taken over by our friends at Avoriaz Holidays and will go a long way to helping Avoriaz become a more year-round destination. After all, it’s just as stunning in the summer as it is in the winter, and what better way to finish off a day on the bike or on the hiking trails than with a few rounds of bowling? Especially if the weather isn’t going your way.
The Bowling still features its amazingly retro interior decor, complete with cocktail bar, sports screen, all your favourite arcade games (including the very best arcade game in the world: air hockey), pool tables and friendly vibes that suit everyone from families to groups of friends. It’s open from 5pm every day, or 3pm if the weather is bad, all the way through until 2am. Happy hour is until 7pm every day, with €7 cocktails, €5 pints of Kingfisher and €7 pints of Lagunitas IPA.
The Place is now fully equipped with a very summery terrace offering amazing views over Avoriaz. As the resort’s best late night bar, it’ll be open from 9pm until 2am every day and will see a range of DJs taking to the decks and the odd bit of live music.
Next time you’re in Avoriaz, make sure you stop by and say hello, maybe have a white Russian and play a few games in the lanes. The team at Avoriaz Holidays have big plans for the Bowling this coming winter. Keep your eyes peeled for an update from us very soon!
