Here at Source Magazine we’ve heard rumours over the last couple of days that the Avoriaz lift operating company Serma are considering closing the resort’s open pistes and lifts due to safety concerts. We’re pleased to report this morning that these rumours are untrue! Serma have confirmed that the following Avoriaz ski sectors are currently relying on artificial snow but are open and will stay open for the foreseeable future:
- Crete
- Crot
- Parchets
- Plateau (beginners area)
- Melezes
- Boulevard des skiers
- Stade d’Arare
- Grand Plan
Chavanettes and Fornet don’t have artificial snow coverage and efforts are being focused on moving snow to keep them open. This means that two thirds of the Avoriaz ski area will be open for Christmas.
Following years of huge investment in snow canons, reservoirs and artificial snow making, the team in Avoriaz are able to produce and move snow to keep pistes open. You can keen an eye on all open runs and lifts on our LIVE LIFT page.
