It’s fair to say that folk in Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz are spoilt for choice when it comes to apres ski choices this winter. With so many bands, DJ’s and events going on, your holiday week fills up quickly. But have you considered a different kind of apres? A moonlight walk in the local mountains perhaps?
Claude and Véronique are local mountain guides and they’ve developed a very new activity for this winter. It’s the real ‘chalet d’alpage’ experience and it involves a quiet, tranquil walk through the mountains to La Tapia at the Col de l’Encrenaz. When you arrive, Véronique serves a local aperitif followed by a homemade meal of pela (onion and potatoes with melted cheese), salad, charcuterie and a delicious dessert. All ingredients are local, and Véronique even includes herbs she picked in the mountains last summer. Dinner is followed by local digestif ‘grôle’ and there’s plenty of red and white wine to be had throughout.
Around the fire after dinner, Claude brings out his guitar to play some famous French and English songs… it really is an unforgettable experience.
