A One-off Gourmet Experience

Posted on

Local chalet company Morgan Jupe are to host a special, one-off gourmet event at Chalet des Amis in Morzine at the end of this month and their remaining dining availability has just been opened up to non-residents. If you’re a fan of exceptionally special dining experiences, then don’t miss this.

Chef James Sommerin of Great British Menu fame has prepared an exquisite menu. He started his career at the age of 12, working on Saturday mornings in an Italian restaurant in Newport, Wales. At the age of 16, James made the move to Scotland, where he worked under the guidance of Richard Lythe, learning the importance of seasonality, quality and the essence of flavour. He then became Head Chef at The Crown at Whitebrook and obtained his first Michelin star in 2007. April 2014 saw James open his own restaurant, offering contemporary cuisine which is inspired by France but keenly British. His flavour combinations are unusual but subtle and his presentation is stunning but approachable.

The 5 course tasting menu, served on Monday 25th January is as follows:

Amuse Bouche – Cep and truffle doughnut

1st course – Liquid pea ravioli with sage and serrano ham

2nd course – Pan seared Scallop, artichoke, mushroom and fennel seed butter sauce

3rd course – Partridge, shallot, salsify, bread puree

4th course – Treacle, raspberry, olive oil and rosemary

5th course – Apple – flavours of tarte-tatin

Priced at €95 per person.

James is also preparing an exciting brunch to be served on Wednesday 27th January, priced at €45 per person and served again at Chalet des Amis.
