Crashed Ice Riders Cup Avoriaz

If you’ve read our interview with local Crashed Ice skaters Tristan Duguerdil and Pacho Schmitt, you’ll surely have a taste for what’s to come in Avoriaz this weekend. Crashed Ice is the hottest new sport on snow, and Avoriaz plays host to a round of the Ice Cross Downhill Championship on Friday and Saturday. A specially erected course has been built through the centre of the resort and the sport’s biggest names will be out on force. We’ll be cheering for our home grown talent of course!

Friday 15th

9.30am – 11am – training
6pm – 7.30pm – qualifying

Saturday 16th

9.30am – 11am – training
6pm – 8pm – finals

Ice-cross sees 4 racers compete against each other on an ice-packed downhill course, negotiating their way over bumps, berns, jumps and banked corners and there’s a knock-out format to proceedings. The centre of Avoriaz is expected to be packed out with over 10,000 spectators crammed into the resort. Here’s a taste of what’s to come…
